Psalm 34:3-4

Psalm 34

3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,

And let us exalt His name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me,

And delivered me from all my fears.

In Psalm 34 the psalmist breaks forth in worship and praise of God and imploring others to join him. By our human nature we can point out the struggles we have or the problems that need to be solved. Gratitude on the other hand requires work and training or retraining of our brain. We have to be intentional about recognizing all that God does for us in our lives. When we pause and look intently, we can see the goodness of God all around us. When we do the natural response is to magnify the Lord, to make him large. This is like placing his action on the Jumbotron for everyone to see the replay. This is why our testimonies are important. This is our way of reporting the goodness of God and in enlarging ours and others view of God. In Psalm 34, the Psalmist praises God because he heard his pray and delivered him from his fears, not necessarily his circumstances. God cares for us more than we realize. He is more active in our lives and world than we often credit him. Take time today to pause and see God’s work in your life and break forth in praise.
