Change

Change is an inevitable part of life. Babies are born and immediately begin the process of growing older. The geography of the world we live in is changed by wind and water. Eyesight changes over time. Intellectual and athletic ability change over time. Many people struggle with accepting change. We want things to stay the same, except time is marching on and the world is changing around us. A lot of work has taken place in the sanctuary and the visual look has changed. This week we celebrate the accomplishments of our children in church as they graduate from schools, which brings about a change in their life as well as their family. Change is inevitable.

In the face of all this change we have someone to hold onto. James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” Note there is no variation or even shadow of change. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” In the face of an ever-changing world, we rest in the unchanging God we serve.
