Unchanging Nature of God

The world we live in is rapidly changing. In my lifetime there have been massive changes. Cellphones have become normal. Many people no longer have a landline at home. The internet has come into existence and changed the way we think and live. We have the ability to order an item and have it within the next two days. Google and Wikipedia have replaced encyclopedias. Email, text messages, self-driving cars and the list goes on. Change is all around us.

In the midst of all the changes, there are two constants that I see. One is that mankind is broken and left to our own devices we will dig a deeper whole. The second constant is the nature and character of God. Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. James 1:16-17, Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. These are two verses that speak to the unchanging nature of God. When we begin to look at the stories found in scripture, we will see that the nature and character of God is constant. God is love. God is patient. Jesus is the messiah. Jesus is the only way to have eternal life. The unchanging nature of God gives us security in an ever-changing world. When I find myself in uncertain situations, I can remember my interaction with God over time. I remember His love, His grace and His gentle nature. As our world continues to change hold fast to the unchanging nature of God.
