Hope

Over the next few weeks are going to explore the life of David. In the mind of many people David is larger than life. Samuel described David as a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13). This is an amazing characteristic that causes many people to see the life of David and the relationship that he had with God as unobtainable. We should remember that as much as David was a man who pursued God and worshiped God deeply, he was also a man filled with lust, pride and revenge. My desire is not to tear David down, but to introduce hope into our lives so God can use us regardless of our failures. David is the man who declared that Goliath, this uncircumcised Philistine had offended God and must go down, but he is also the man who stood on the roof top and lusted after Bathsheba. Through both of these events he is loved by God, he is a man after God’s own heart and he is used by God. Even someone like David who is revered, struggled with sin and obedience. Sin can prevent us from serving in certain ways, but God will not be limited by your sin. He died and arose to forgive our sins. David accomplished great feats in the name of God and so can you. Satan has perpetuated a lie in our lives that says if you have made a mistake, if you have sinned, that God cannot use you. We hear that voice whispered in our ear, you can’t serve because of….. It is past time that you and I stand firm and tell Satan to get out of our head. Remember we serve a God that is greater than he is, we are redeemed, we are forgiven and now we will be used by God.
