The Love of God is Calvary
The song ,The Love of God, begins with these lyrics,
"The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell.”
We can never express fully the love that God has for us. We will never fully understand the greatness of His love. God has given us the Bible which teaches us of His love for us. The pages tell of God’s great plan and of His great patience in bringing His plan of redemption to fruition. Generations of poets, song writers, pastors, Sunday school teachers, and followers of Christ have spoken and penned down God’s love and we still find that there is a great deal more room to tell of God’s wonderful love. There will always be room for another story of a sinner who has been saved by God’s marvelous grace, of a life that is transformed by the heart felt knowledge of Jesus. In Revelation, there is a beautiful picture of the 24 elders casting their crowns before Him who sits on the throne, crying “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” What an awesome scene of worship. The love of God is truly amazing. Paul said in Romans 5:8 "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The Cross of Calvary is the picture of God’s love. Even though words and songs tell us of God’s love, it is the action of Jesus dying on the cross that summarizes the greatness of God’s love of us. While we were still sinners Jesus gave his life. There is no greater love than the cross. This Easter please pause, think of God’s love for you and respond to His greatness.
