Galatians 6:9-10

The “new normal” for our lives is starting to settle in. For some, cabin fear is setting in. For others fear has become the norm. For those in leadership and the healthcare industry they start the day wondering what this day will hold. Many people are having an internal debate about the goodness of God, whether this is God’s judgement or how a loving God could allow all of this suffering. I think most people are just tired of our new normal.

So, let me offer some words of encouragement as we struggle to adjust to our new day to day life. Galatians 6:9-10 says,

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

Don’t stop doing good. Now more than ever our world, our community, and the people around us need to see Christians doing good. The body of Christ should be finding ways to love on people, encourage people, caring for neighbors, feeding our community. In being the hands and feet of Christ, we can be assured that there will be a harvest that takes place. We cannot fathom how often people watch our good deeds. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Often times the first step in evangelism is people observing our lives. We also need to realize that we need to be encouragers as the body of Christ. Our leaders, at all levels, are making difficult decisions with limited information and someone is always going to disagree. We are to pray for our governmental leaders. We also need to encourage our healthcare workers. They are on the frontlines of this fight, caring for other people but also concerned about their own well-being. They need our prayers and an encouraging card or txt message. Again, don’t stop doing good. You may be confined to your home but there are endless ways to touch people’s lives.
