7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Sowing and reaping is a basic principle in agriculture. If you sow corn seed, you expect to reap a harvest of corn. If you plant a fig tree, you plan to harvest figs. This principle applies in other areas of our lives as demonstrated by our sayings about life, Garbage in Garbage out, you get out what you put in, and as stated above you reap what you sow. In our spiritual lives this is true. There are countless inputs into our lives: Experiences, education, friends, family, books, music, movies, social media, church, scripture and even self-talk. All of these inputs are seeds planted in our lives. They are going to produce something in our lives that will either be good or bad. The good or bad is dependent on whether the seed is good or bad. So, stop for a moment and consider the influences that you allow into your life, are they positive or negative. These small inputs in our life set us on a journey in a good direction or a bad one. As you survey your inputs are there negative inputs that need to be removed. The negative inputs ultimately lead us to a place of bondage in our lives. The struggle with them is that they seem so small and inconsequential in the larger picture of life, but the reality is that these small negative or bad inputs over a long time in our lives lead to big problems. Making the same bad decision, however small, can over time have a massive impact. I challenge you to stop and consider the small decisions that you make each day. I challenge you to look at the areas of your life that need to change and begin to work backwards to find the small decisions each day that keep you stuck in your habit. Whatever you sow into your life, you will reap a crop from it. Pastor Scott
